Basketball Recap: Maxwell Comes Up Short

Maxwell lost against Hayfork on Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Panthers were outmatched by the Timberjacks and fell 56-27.

Maxwell's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Karina Perez, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards, and Miyah Reyes, who posted seven points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Reyes has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Hayfork got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Riley Bayley out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Bayley continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sidney Medellin, who had nine points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Maxwell's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Hayfork, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Maxwell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-38 win against Willows on the 20th. As for Hayfork, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-36 victory against Etna on the 20th.
