The Bernstein Dragons suffered their biggest defeat since November 10, 2023 on Monday. They were outmatched by Madison at home and fell 60-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bernstein has scored all season.
Bernstein's loss came despite strong showings from Odali Rivera and Valerie Urrutia. Rivera scored 11 points, while Urrutia scored nine points. That was a full 44% of Bernstein's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Amyaha Walker was her usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for Madison. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Murrell, who scored seven points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Bernstein and nudges their season record down to 13-6. As for Madison, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bernstein will take on Hollywood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Hollywood is ranked 617th, while Bernstein is ranked 628th). Madison won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Coronado at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Coronado and Madison are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
