After a string of seven wins, the Taylor Allderdice Dragons's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 75-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Joseph. The matchup was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but Taylor Allderdice was outscored by St. Joseph in the second.
St. Joseph's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julie Spinelli, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Spinelli hasn't dropped below 15points for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Emma Swierczewski, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds.
Taylor Allderdice's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8. As for St. Joseph, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor Allderdice on the road again on Tuesday and play against Obama Academy of International Studies at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for St. Joseph, they will square off against Jeannette at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Jeannette will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 515th, while St. Joseph is ranked 146th).
