The Capac Chiefs fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Peck Pirates on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 44-42. Capac has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Peck found their leader in underclassman Thomas West, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. West hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cal Heiden, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Capac has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Peck, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9.
Capac will square off against Marlette at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Peck, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-31 win vs. Mayville on the 9th.
