The CORE Butte Lynx will head out on the road to challenge the Williams Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. CORE Butte has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
CORE Butte posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Maxwell and snuck past 43-41.
Meanwhile, Williams' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Hamilton at home and fell 60-11. While losing is never fun, Williams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1286th, while Hamilton is ranked 552nd).
CORE Butte is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. As for Williams, they bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
CORE Butte came up short against Williams when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 38-25. Can CORE Butte avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
