Aquinas has gone 9-1 against Ontario Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Falcons will challenge the Knights at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aquinas has seven straight victories, Ontario Christian has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Aquinas barely beat Linfield Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Aquinas got a great performance from Hayden Vanderhoof as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.
On the hitting side, Carter Hadnot was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Mason Greenhouse, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Aquinas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Woodcrest Christian hit Ontario Christian with a four-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell just short of the Royals by a score of 5-4.
Brady Dinco put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Dinco was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Matt Jimenez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jacob Ericson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Aquinas pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Ontario Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-20.
Aquinas took their victory against Ontario Christian when the teams last played on Monday by a conclusive 15-3 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
