Dana Hills is 1-9 against Aliso Niguel since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Dolphins will head out to take on the Wolverines at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Dana Hills had just enough and edged out Tesoro 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dolphins.
Meanwhile, Aliso Niguel entered their tilt with Capistrano Valley on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Cooper Flemming made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carson Etnire was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Hamada, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Aliso Niguel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capistrano Valley struck out eight times.
Aliso Niguel's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Dana Hills, their record now sits at 9-11-1.
Dana Hills couldn't quite finish off Aliso Niguel in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 and fell 6-4. Can the Dolphins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
