Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 24 to 12 on the offensive boards, a fact the Pitman Pride proved on Tuesday. They slipped by Downey 52-51. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pitman.
Pitman got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dailynn Greener out in front who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Greener has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Wu, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Downey's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis Monroy, who scored 17 points along with five steals. Joslyn Sheppard was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Pitman is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Downey, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-16.
Pitman will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Turlock is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Downey, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Modesto is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
