The Downey Vikings will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Lapwai Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Downey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
Last Friday, Downey came up short against San Clemente and fell 54-44.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Amanda Velazquez, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Symantha Barnett was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Lapwai waltzed into their matchup last Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They blew past Troy 57-27 on the road. The result was nothing new for Lapwai, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Downey's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Lapwai, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
