Northern Cambria has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Ferndale Yellow Jackets at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Northern Cambria took a serious blow against the Mustangs, falling 56-21. While losing is never fun, Northern Cambria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 529th, while the Mustangs are ranked 38th).
Meanwhile, Ferndale's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 48-19 defeat at the hands of West Branch. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ferndale has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Maisen Sechrengost, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Deajah Chatman, who scored nine points.
Northern Cambria has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Ferndale, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Northern Cambria didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Yellow Jackets when the teams last played on Monday, but they still walked away with a 50-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northern Cambria since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
