The Watertown-Mayer Royals''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Mayer Lutheran 42-0. Watertown-Mayer was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mayer Lutheran apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2014.
Mayer Lutheran had a senior duo take command as Jack Grimsley rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries and Levi Hahn rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns.
Watertown-Mayer's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Mayer Lutheran, Dassel-Cokato, and Litchfield. Watertown-Mayer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mayer Lutheran also has no future games currently scheduled.
