The Oaks Christian Lions fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Calabasas Coyotes on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 76-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coyotes. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), Oaks Christian still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Oaks Christian still got an impressive performance from Brooklyn Shamblin, who scored 30 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shamblin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Kushner, who scored 18 points along with five steals.
Maddy Tauro was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with eight steals for Calabasas. Tauro is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last nine games she's played. Jocelynn Townsend was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Oaks Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Calabasas, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oaks Christian will take on the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Westlake's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 games. As for Calabasas, they will be playing at home against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Agoura is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
