The Lathrop Spartans won the last time they faced the Orestimba Warriors, and things went their way on Saturday too. Lathrop came out on top against Orestimba by a score of 28-20. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lathrop.
Lathrop found their leader in underclassman Shakara Porter, who scored 4 points along with 17 rebounds and 8 steals. Porter is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marianna Delgado, who scored 7 points.
When it comes to explaining why Orestimba lost, one person who can't be blamed is Olivia Gray. Despite the final result, she scored 9 points along with 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Gray scored a full 45% of Orestimba's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lathrop's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Orestimba, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Lathrop is on the road again on Tuesday and play against West at 6:30 p.m. on December 5th. As for Orestimba, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Downey at 7:00 p.m. Downey is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
