It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Palm Desert ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past La Quinta 39-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Palm Desert has posted yet this season.
Palm Desert can attribute much of their success to Ava Tethal, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds, and Katelyn Gallagher, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Gallagher has scored at least a third of Palm Desert's points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Rancho Mirage, who are still winless after their 18th matchup. They took a serious blow against Xavier Prep on Tuesday, falling 67-15. Rancho Mirage was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-9.
Palm Desert has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Rancho Mirage, they dropped their record down to 0-18 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home.
