The Mays Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Hapeville Charter Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Mays' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on KIPP Atlanta Collegiate with a sharp 14-0 win. That looming 14-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Raiders yet this season.

Amari Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Mays got a massive performance out of Ronald Tucker, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. With that strong performance, Tucker is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Chance Thomas, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 3-for-3.
Mays was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Hapeville Charter came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Seminoles 15-7. While the Hornets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Like Mays, Hapeville Charter also got a great game from a two-way player: S Johnson. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other batting news, D Weaver was a standout: he scored a run and stole six bases while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. M Rivers was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
The victory made it two in a row for Mays and bumps their season record up to 4-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.5 hits in those games compared to only 5.5 in the others. As for Hapeville Charter, their record is now 4-1.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mays hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Hapeville Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mays might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Hapeville Charter when the teams last played on Saturday. Can Mays avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
