Bethel is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bonney Lake.
Warner Anderson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits.
At the plate, Jacob Vance was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Brayden Czestyicki also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Puyallup put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let South Kitsap get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.
Mason Pike made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Brayden Landry was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Riley Sanoy, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Puyallup was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Puyallup pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.1 runs on average over those games. As for Bethel, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Bethel suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Puyallup when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Bethel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
