The St. Mary's Rams will challenge the De La Salle Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games St. Mary's has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Tanner Grove was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Dax Hardcastle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Brady Errecart was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
St. Mary's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Christian only posted a batting average of .130.
Meanwhile, De La Salle waltzed into their match on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Golden Eagles.
Mason Cortez looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Antonio Castro, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Brandon Vargas, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
De La Salle's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for St. Mary's, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season.
