The Punxsutawney Chucks put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 63-26 win over Oil City at home. With that win, Punxsutawney brought their scoring average up to 51.5 points per game.
Punxsutawney was led to victory by Danielle Griebel and Avary Powell. Griebel scored 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, while Powell dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Griebel's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily McMahan, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Punxsutawney's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Oil City, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Punxsutawney will head out on the road to face off against Bradford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bradford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Punxsutawney is ranked 29th). Oil City will be home for the holidays to greet Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
