Hilton Head Island scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins. The Seahawks' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Hilton Head Island lost, don't look at Leah Elizabeth Ann Jackson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliana Richard, who posted eight points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hilton Head Island smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilton Head Prep only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.

Courtney Campbell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hilton Head Prep, almost dropping a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. Campbell's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Erin Cleary, who had 16 points.

Hilton Head Island's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hilton Head Prep, they pushed their record up to 4-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Hilton Head Island will be taking part in a tournament against Sumter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sumter will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Hilton Head Island surely won't give up without a fight.
