The CORE Butte Lynx will head out on the road to square off against the Maxwell Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. CORE Butte is hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Even though CORE Butte has not done well against Los Molinos recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. CORE Butte secured a 25-21 W over Los Molinos.
Meanwhile, Maxwell was beaten by Hamilton 58-20 on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Maxwell has scored all season.
Maxwell's defeat came about despite a quality game from Emma Hendrix, who almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 13 rebounds, and nine steals. That was a full 55% of Maxwell's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Bailee Haywood, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Maxwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
CORE Butte has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-9 record this season. As for Maxwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
CORE Butte came up short against Maxwell in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 29-23. Can CORE Butte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
