The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered their biggest loss since November 29, 2023 on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 63-38 walloping at the hands of Granada Hills Charter. While losing is never fun, Cleveland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while Granada Hills Charter is ranked 144th).
Defeat or not, Cleveland got some senior leadership from Valerie Anzora and Soph Tarakhohyan. Anzora scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals, while Tarakhohyan. scored 14 points. Anzora is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Baylee Miles, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Cleveland has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Granada Hills Charter, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cleveland will square off against Birmingham at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Birmingham's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for Granada Hills Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against El Camino Real at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
