The River View Raiders waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tazewell and snuck past 55-52. Given River View's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 69th in West Virginia, while Tazewell is ranked 434th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson Danielson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Justice, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and six blocks.
River View's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Tazewell, they bumped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
River View will be playing at home against Mount View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tazewell will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Richlands at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
