University extended their winning streak to 11 on Thursday, bumping them up to 21-2. Everything went their way against the Strasburg Indians as they made off with a 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jasi Cole was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in August.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamzee Kern, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Wyatt, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strasburg only posted a batting average of .231.
As for Strasburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-8 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Strasburg's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madi Olsen, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
University didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-0 victory against Englewood on the 18th. As for Strasburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 20-2 win against Bennett on the 18th.
