It's playoff time, and Twentynine Palms had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Beacon Hill Gryphon on Thursday as they made off with a 20-8 victory. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mauricio Montada made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Twentynine Palms: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Twentynine Palms let Anthony Gabriel and Jandell Jiminez run wild. Gabriel earned three RBI, four runs, and five stolen bases, while Jiminez went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Jiminez is becoming a predictor of Twentynine Palms' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Anthony Escandon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Twentynine Palms and bumps their season record up to 10-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Beacon Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
