The St. Bernard's Crusaders are taking a road trip to square off against the Middletown Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Bernard's will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
If St. Bernard's beats Middletown with 14 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Crusaders blew past South Fork 14-0 on Thursday. Considering the Crusaders have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Quentin Ikeya made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Manzi, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Luke Brunton, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Middletown came up short against Fort Bragg on Tuesday and fell 7-2. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Timberwolves: they've now lost four in a row.
Middletown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody De Jong, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was De Jong's first of the season.
St. Bernard's record now sits at 9-3. As for Middletown, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Bernard's has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Middletown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went St. Bernard's way against Middletown in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as St. Bernard's made off with a 10-4 victory. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
