Softball Recap: Peach County Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Peach County entered their tilt with Upson-Lee on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 12-4 victory. Considering the Trojans have won 11 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Shaniyah Gibson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gibson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addison Dickerson and Taleyah Marable did most of the damage at the plate: Dickerson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Marable got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Marable has posted since back in August. Yumi Thomas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Peach County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in five consecutive games.

Peach County's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Upson-Lee, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peach County will take on Schley County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Upson-Lee, they will head out to take on Whitewater at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
