Baseball Recap: Rolling Hills Prep Victorious

Rolling Hills Prep had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles on Monday as the Rolling Hills Prep Huskies made off with an 18-3 victory. The Huskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Isaac Sarner and Matthew Moyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sarner struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Meanwhile, Moyer didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Sarner a new career-high. At the plate, Sarner went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Moyer scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Alex Hernandez was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with five RBI and three runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Jake Levin, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3.

Rolling Hills Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Animo Leadership only posted an OBP of .370.

Rolling Hills Prep's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3-1. As for Animo Leadership, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Coming up, Rolling Hills Prep will head out on the road to take on Hawthorne Math & Science Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hawthorne Math & Science Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.2 runs per game on average), something Rolling Hills Prep will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Animo Leadership, they will face off against Ambassador at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Animo Leadership has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
