The Mt. Pleasant Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Frazier Commodores at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Pleasant will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Mt. Pleasant made easy work of Southmoreland and carried off a 38-14 victory. Given Mt. Pleasant's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Southmoreland is ranked 533rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Frazier sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 victory over Bentworth on Monday. The win was just what Frazier needed coming off of a 57-27 defeat in their prior contest.
Frazier's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Chloe Harger, who scored 17 points, and Allie Yauch, who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Yauch has scored at least 25% of Frazier's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malana Burton, who scored eight points.
Mt. Pleasant's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Frazier, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Everything went Mt. Pleasant's way against Frazier when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Mt. Pleasant made off with a 50-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mt. Pleasant since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
