The Brea Olinda Wildcats's and the Foothill Knights's game on Tuesday was close at halftime, but the Brea Olinda Wildcats turned on the heat in the second half with 36 points. Brea Olinda put the hurt on Foothill with a sharp 60-40 win. The victory was just what Brea Olinda needed coming off of a 62-38 defeat in their prior game.
Brea Olinda got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Liz Han out in front who scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. Maya Sanborn was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Despite the loss, Foothill still got an impressive performance from Jay Perez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Perez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paige Bak, who scored seven points.
Brea Olinda's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-13. As for Foothill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brea Olinda will take on El Dorado at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. El Dorado presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brea Olinda in California (El Dorado is ranked 82nd, while Brea Olinda is ranked 334th). As for Foothill, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Yorba Linda at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th.
