Basketball Game Preview: Shadow Hills Knights vs. La Quinta Blackhawks

The Shadow Hills Knights are taking a road trip to take on the La Quinta Blackhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shadow Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season.

Shadow Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging an 85-6 win over Rancho Mirage. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Rattlers are ranked 1202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rosalee Guiterrez was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 13 en route to 20 points along with six steals and five assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylah Archer, who went 6 for 7 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

Shadow Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, La Quinta earned a 48-41 victory over Xavier Prep on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blackhawks.

Shadow Hills is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for La Quinta, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

Everything came up roses for Shadow Hills against La Quinta in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the team secured a 62-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shadow Hills since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
