Basketball Game Preview: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Sage Creek Bobcats

Torrey Pines is 9-0 against Sage Creek since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Torrey Pines Falcons will look to defend their home court against the Sage Creek Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Torrey Pines' favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Sage Creek has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Last Friday, Torrey Pines was able to grind out a solid victory over Carlsbad, taking the game 58-46.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Torrey Pines to victory, but perhaps none more so than Harper Kelley, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Kelley a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Lily Oliva, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 19 points and three steals.

Torrey Pines smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Sage Creek took a blow against Oceanside on Friday, falling 55-13. The game marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Torrey Pines is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Sage Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Everything came up roses for Torrey Pines against Sage Creek in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 65-31 win. Does Torrey Pines have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sage Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
