The Sutter Huskies are taking a road trip to take on the Woodland Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sutter comes in on ten and Woodland on 14.
Sutter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Hughson get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.
Not much got past Devin Murphy, who gave up just five hits to keep Hughson off the board. Murphy has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Landyn Singh was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Karter Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Sutter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Woodland got the win against Destiny Christian Academy on Friday by a conclusive 16-1. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Riley Salvemini was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Salvemini was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Woodland got a massive performance out of Cohen Dwyer, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Dwyer has posted since back in April. Angelo Velasquez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Sutter's record is now 24-4. As for Woodland, their record now sits at an identical 24-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sutter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Woodland struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sutter might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Woodland in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
