Dewey had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They beat the Valliant Bulldogs on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-1. Kyla Overton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Dewey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valliant only posted an OBP of .273.
Dewey is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Valliant, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bulldogs beat Dewey by a score of 4-3 later that day.
