Western is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let East Ridge get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory.
Not much got past Cheyanne Chaffin, who gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks to keep East Ridge off the board. Chaffin has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Julie Rodriguez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Hagerty made easy work of Jupiter on Tuesday and carried off a 7-0 win. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.
Bella Ortiz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Ortiz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mattingly Klein, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Nisa Fatzinger-Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Western's record now sits at 24-5. As for Hagerty, their record is now 26-4.
Western's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game.
