The David Crockett Pioneers typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the West Ridge Wolves proved too difficult a challenge. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 56-55 win over the Pioneers. The victory was all the more spectacular given West Ridge's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Pioneers are ranked 18th).
David Crockett's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bella Ferguson, who scored 11 points along with seven assists. Aaliyah Story was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
West Ridge's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for David Crockett, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Ridge is on the road again on Friday and plays the Trailblazers at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Daniel Boone has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 266 points over their last four matchups. As for David Crockett, they will head out on the road to challenge the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
