This season hasn't been kind to the Holy Cross Crusaders, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They fell 49-38 to Mid Valley on Friday. Holy Cross has struggled against the Spartans recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Mid Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Krista Cortazar, who scored nine points along with six steals. Cortazar is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Chiara Zavislak, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Holy Cross dropped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mid Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mid Valley will head out on the road to take on the Foresters at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest City comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
