Video: Keegan Thompson highlights Senior quarterback led Rigby to Class 5A title.
In a Class 5A state championship game for the ages, Rigby knocked off Couer d' Alene 57-56 in double overtime. Leading the way for the victors was senior quarterback Keegan Thompson, who has been selected to the Idaho All-State Football Team presented by Suddenlink by Altice.
Thompson threw for six touchdown passes in the state finals and had 411 yards of total offense (289 passing and 122 yards rushing). The title is a first for Rigby and Thompson was the clear leader, earning High Country Player of the Year honors in the process. Thompson finished with 1,789 yards passing and 26 touchdowns to go with 1,513 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns on the season.
Head coach Sherm Blaser guided Kuna to an undefeated season and a Class 4A state championship. Kuna did not even reach the playoffs last year, but went 13-0 while beating Blackfoot 49-35 in the finals. Kuna scored 589 points on the season, including 196 in four playoff games.

The 5A Southern Idaho Player of the Year had 1,380 yards passing with 10 touchdowns, 1,391 yards rushing with 26 touchdowns, 62 tackles and four interceptions. Also all-state in basketball as a junior and a state champion in the 400 meters in 2019.
