It was a good run, but the Roxborough Wolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Monday. They took a hard 51-36 fall against Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Roxborough of the 62-50 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Roxborough lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylah Holmes. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Holmes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Siaharr Simmons was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals and three blocks.
It was another big night for Elnora Span, who scored 30 points along with five assists and five rebounds for Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniyah Cooper, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Roxborough's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3. As for Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Roxborough will head out on the road to take on Samuel Fels at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Samuel Fels will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 484th, while Roxborough is ranked 202nd). As for Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech, they will be playing at home against Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
