Baseball Recap: Calipatria Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses at Home

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Calipatria and Vincent Memorial, and Calipatria kept the tradition alive. The Calipatria Hornets blew past the Vincent Memorial Scots 16-6 on Monday. The Hornets not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14, 2024.

Sebastian Lopez was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Oscar Lopez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4.

Calipatria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Calipatria's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2. As for Vincent Memorial, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calipatria will venture away from home to square off against Victory Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Calipatria is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Vincent Memorial, they are taking a road trip to take on Foothills Christian at 4:00 p.m. on March 24th.
