The San Marcos Knights suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 68-40 loss at the hands of Del Norte. San Marcos has not had much luck with Del Norte recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, San Marcos still got an impressive performance from Kyra Quinn, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Quinn hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Christiana Samuel was another key contributor, scoring three points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Del Norte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bailey Barnhard, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Barnhard is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kiana Cadigan, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 2 assists.
San Marcos has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Del Norte, their win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.
San Marcos' road trip will continue as they head out to face Crenshaw at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Crenshaw will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Del Norte, they will be playing at home against Rancho Bernardo at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Bernardo is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
