Casa Roble is 8-2 against El Camino since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Rams will host the Eagles at 4:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Casa Roble has six straight victories, El Camino has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, it was close, but Casa Roble sidestepped Rio Linda for a 5-3 win.
Bryce Engler looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Preston Schweiger was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, El Camino suffered their closest defeat since April 26, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Dixon by a score of 6-4.
David Gutierrez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alonso McGivney, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Casa Roble's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for El Camino, their loss dropped their record down to 5-20.
Casa Roble's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Rams have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for El Camino, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Casa Roble continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Casa Roble's way against El Camino in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Casa Roble made off with an 8-1 victory. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
