Shelton and Wilcox-Hildreth are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Shelton Bulldogs will take on the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shelton has six straight wins, Wilcox-Hildreth has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Shelton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 71-24 win over Harvard at home. Shelton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, Wilcox-Hildreth struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (Overton had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wilcox-Hildreth took a hard 43-29 fall against Overton. That's two games in a row now that Wilcox-Hildreth has lost by exactly 14 points.
Wilcox-Hildreth's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cara Bunger, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five steals, and Madison Bunger who scored six points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Bunger has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played.
Shelton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8.
Shelton came up short against Wilcox-Hildreth in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 40-36. Can Shelton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
