The Cochranton Cardinals won the last time they faced the Girard Yellowjackets, and things went their way  on Saturday too. Cochranton was the clear victor by a  55-34 margin over Girard. The  contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached  36-16.
  Shelby McBryar was  her usual excellent self,  scoring 21 points along with seven  rebounds. The  contest was  her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was  Eve Pfeiffer, who  scored nine points along with six  assists.
 Cochranton has  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four games,  which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Girard, they  still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cochranton will finish  2023 at home by hosting Sharpsville at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Sharpsville is hoping to put an end to  a three-game streak of away losses. Girard will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Seneca at 7:30  p.m.  on January 4, 2024. Seneca presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Girard in Pennsylvania (Seneca is ranked 157th, while Girard is ranked 564th).
