Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Kloe Froebe of
Lincoln is the 2023-24 Illinois MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 5-foot-8 senior point guard led the Railsplitters to a 38-0 record and Class 3A state championship, the school's first.
For the season, Froebe averaged 28.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 52 percent from the field. In Lincoln's 60-44 win over Glenwood (Chatham) in the Class 3A state championship game, she scored 36 points – a title-game record.

Froebe finished her career with 3,262 points, good for fifth all-time in Illinois. Her 127 state tournament points are a record.
After committing to Colorado State nearly a year ago, Froebe signed with the Rams in November.
"Kloe is an incredible leader and winner," Colorado State head coach Ryun Williams said at the time of her signing. "She plays the game with incredible intensity and is very productive on the basketball floor. She is a high-level, highly-skilled, elite-level guard and there is no doubt that Kloe will impact our program immediately."
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
