Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Cordova's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

Cordova's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Antelope Titans, sneaking past 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Lancers: when they faced off against the Titans last Wednesday, they had to take a 6-0 defeat.

Levi Nyberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Alfonso Maya was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Cordova has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Antelope, their record is now 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cordova will head out to challenge West Park at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Antelope, they will venture away from home to take on McClatchy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
