Archbishop Curley had won four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they bumped up to 1-1 to make it five. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Saint James Saints 30-28. Things were looking grim for the Friars in the second quarter (they were down by 21) but they stormed back to get the game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Curley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Adam Cook, who threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns. 101 of those passing yards were hauled in by Jemal O'Neal, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

As for Saint James, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. They were up 21 in the second, but they couldn't quite seal the deal.
Despite the loss, Saint James still got an impressive performance from Jayden Yates, who rushed for 139 yards and one score on only 12 carries, and also threw for 202 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Liam Hall, who gained 55 total yards and two touchdowns.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Curley will square off against Calvert Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saint James, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Paul VI at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
