Independence is on a three-game streak of home losses, Ridgeview a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Independence Falcons will take on the Ridgeview Wolf Pack at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Independence beat Bakersfield 60-54.
Independence relied on the efforts of Ka'Rayah Robertson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds, and Kaylynn Bolden, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robertson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josslyn Escobar, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Ridgeview suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 67-31 loss at the hands of Bakersfield Christian. Ridgeview has struggled against Bakersfield Christian recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Independence's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Ridgeview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
Independence came up short against Ridgeview when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 46-42. Can Independence avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
