It was a good run, but the Meridian Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 69-68 to Brandon. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (55), Meridian still had to take the loss.
Brandon was led to victory by Braylon Barnes and Nate White. Barnes scored 23 points along with six rebounds, while White dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Ottis Harrison was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meridian's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Brandon, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will challenge Northwest Rankin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Rankin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Meridian is ranked 16th). As for Brandon, they will head out on the road to square off against Petal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
