Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Liberty Ranch couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lowell Cardinals on Thursday. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their 28-game winning streak.

Haley Smith and Madisyn Robbins certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Smith dropped a double-double with 25 points and 15 boards, while Robbins almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 46.3% of Liberty Ranch's points, marking the third time in a row Smith has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Liberty Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Liberty Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 30-3. As for Lowell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Liberty Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lowell, they will host Castilleja at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Castilleja sitting on nine straight wins and Lowell on ten.
