The Natchitoches Central Chiefs will challenge the Stanley Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Natchitoches Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Natchitoches Central's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Wossman with a sharp 15-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Chiefs considering their two-run performance the match before.
Sydni Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ehren Guidroz was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Breanna Hale, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Natchitoches Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .913. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Stanley posted their closest victory since March 15th on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Lakeside. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Like Natchitoches Central, Stanley also got a great game from a two-way player: Lexi Greene. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those hits marked the first that Greene allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Addyson Hebert was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Natchitoches Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-15 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Stanley, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.
